AREAS OF SPECIALTY
In addition to depression, stress, anxiety, anger management and self-esteem issues, I can help with:
Emotional Trauma - Trauma occurs when you experience something that overwhelms your ability to cope. It could be something as devastating as a natural disaster, loss or a physical assault. A trauma can also be negative experiences that don’t seem as big, but are unexpected, unwanted or repeated enough times that the cumulative effect makes you feel shame or a sense of not being good enough, like being teased, harassed or terminated. If not addressed, trauma can have life-long emotional and physical effects.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a form of therapy that considers the mind-body connection to relieve trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post traumatic stress and many other emotional problems. EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation and right/left eye movements as you revisit a traumatic moment, recalling associated thoughts and feelings to reprocess them and replace them with more peaceful, loving and resolved feelings. Learn more about EMDR.
Teen and Adolescent Counseling - Teens face a lot of stressors—peer pressure, bullying, teasing, jealousy, fitting in, dating, making sports teams and getting into college. At the same time, hormonal changes mean their appearance is undergoing radical transformation and their bodies not only look but also feel different. The way people see them and the way they see themselves in the mirror will have a big impact upon their self-image. At this point, parents may loose their influence and the opinions of friends, the media and popular culture may become more important. Counseling and therapy for teens can help ease stress and make sense of the changes they’re experiencing.
Business Communication Effectiveness Coaching - When it comes to dealing effectively with people in the workplace, you need three things: business competence, communication effectiveness and emotional intelligence (EI). Business effectiveness coaching can help you "read" people and situations accurately and respond appropriately so that you feel comfortable in a variety of situations. Coaching may be combined with EMDR to reprocess trauma that occurs in the workplace. Business effectiveness coaching is helpful when you:
- Experience performance anxiety
- Feel burned out, and don't know how to refuel
- Lack a sense of purpose or motivation
- Feel ready for a change, but you're not sure what it is
